Community Language learning method has been known as humanistic approach which has been used to apply in English learning class to help students in interacting with their classmates, teachers in community in warmly way. Students are the main factor in learning, so teacher’s role is also really important in imparting his or her knowledge in sensitive manner. Planting this seed to grow independently and strongly is also the teacher’s center attention. Student will learn not only from their teacher but from their friends. In addition, teacher and students will become one person; teacher is the best consultant who is always an effective medicine to build up student confident to learn. So Community Language Leaning, CLL, recommend all teachers open mind and keep their student in their mind because students need clear understood from the teacher both inside and outside.
INTRODUCTION
Community Language Learning is a Language- teaching method that students need to work in group to develop their language competency in communication and to build up confidence within community. With this technique student learn from their peer and teacher. This method is called counseling approach in which teacher role as a consoler or advisor. Motivation is really basically important to build up student’s confidence and is an effective medicine to cure students’ depress. When this warm hearted affects on student mind, student with find their new lesson convenience and they are willing to go through the lesson with their teacher. Students’ negative feeling with the new learning situation would be disappeared. Students would learn well and they will never feel bored with their class anymore.
According to (Moskowitz 1978) “CLL techniques also belong to a large set of foreign language teaching practice sometimes described as humanistic techniques”. Humanistic techniques engage the whole person, including the emotions and feeling as well as linguistic knowledge and behavioral skills.
In addition, there is no textbook or syllabus for student and teacher to follow with this method. Student is the one who determine the content of the lesson by creating their own dialogue or describe something they like. Teacher can also assign the topic for student to work together. This class was taken by twenty pre-intermediate students whose age around 13 to 18. They come from different countries and cultures. This multicultural class was taught by a native speaker who holds bachelor degree of Arts in English
